Trainee Water Hygiene Technician
Location: Field-Based. Opportunities in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham, Nottingham, Derby, Lincoln, Leicester
Schedule: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours/week, Monday to Friday) - No on-call, weekends or evenings.
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum + up to 10% monthly bonus + Company Vehicle & Fuel Card. Once trained, opportunities for overtime at 1.5-2x rate.
Essentials: You must already hold a valid EL1 or EL2 security clearance enabling you to work within prison sites and full UK driving licence.

We know that transitioning into a technical field can seem daunting, which is why we provide full, comprehensive training to enable a successful and smooth career transition. No prior water hygiene experience is necessary - we will teach you everything you need to know!
Your onboarding journey will include:
An intensive, 1-week training programme at our state-of-the-art Centres of Excellence in Manchester.
Direct, hands-on field training, pairing up with an experienced engineer for your first couple of weeks.
Rigorous, competency-based skill sign-offs before you are cleared to attend sites independently.
What You'll Be Doing Here
You will manage a dedicated route of MoJ customer sites that you will visit on a regular basis. You'll build and maintain great relationships with your customers, ensuring their water systems are safe and compliant. You will learn to perform essential tasks, including:
Monitor water temperature.
Take water samples.
Flush little used outlets.
Descale showerheads.
Inspect and clean water storage tanks.
Inspect and blowdown calorifiers.
Install and service Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs).
Conduct local disinfections.
You'll learn routine monitoring tasks in line with HSG274 and ACoP L8 standards, and to use our SimPRO system to manage your workload, spot potential problems, and provide effective solutions.
Who We're Looking For
Essentials:
You must already hold a valid EL1 or EL2 security clearance enabling you to work within prison sites.
A full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
Confidence working within secure prison environments, professionalism, strong communication skills when speaking with customers, a desire to work with your hands, and a willingness to travel frequently.
